His early efforts at fiction were largely adult mysteries and science fiction, and at an editor's suggestion he tried his hand at YA suspense. He writes a shitload of crazy stuff that has entertained readers for decades and has inspired many of your favourite authors and filmmakers.īefore becoming an author, Pike attended college but dropped out to take on a series of jobs including house painting, factory work and computer programming. He was born Novemin New York City, but grew up in California, where he currently resides in Santa Barbara with his girlfriend, Abir. Also I know that they were like twelve in the first book but it's mentioned in one of the last books that they are around fourteen now and so I expected a more conclusive decision on the feelings Sally harbored for Adam, Bryce feeling's for Cindy and Cindy's feelings for both Adam and Bryce, which is also a problem they have to face in this book.Christopher PikeChristopher Pike is the pen name of best selling YA author Kevin Christopher McFadden. Of course at the end they are still friends but the book ends with:"All of them went home"Īnd that's it, too open ended, we don't know if it was really their last adventure together or what. Of course each wish, maybe except Sally's, have a consequence for the group and leads to many complications in their last adventure. The town witch, Ann Templeton, is leaving Spooksville to reunite with her daughter and husband so she calls the whole gang, meaning the core five, to her castle and grants each of them a wish with the condition that they won't tell anyone or the wish will be nullified.Įach of them wishes something that goes really well with their personalities: Adam wishes knowing what was right, Watch wishes to read minds, Sally wishes for a unlimited credit card, Cindy wishes for the love of the boy she loves and Bryce wishes for a spaceship. The book was great but my only problem is that it was too open ending for my taste, and having re-read the whole series after ten years in a two-day span didn't help as I was really invested in the story as I was when I was twelve.
